Best Sandpits
Sandpits are a great way to get your kids outside doing something fun!
Sandpits — sometimes called sand boxes — have been a favorite activity of kids for over 100 years. They help kids enjoy outdoor spaces and let them be creative in different ways. We spend some time playing in assorted sandpits with our kids to bring you a list of our favorites.
Creative Cedar Designs octagon wooden sandbox
Step into the octagon!
This octagon is the sandpit I eventually chose for my daughter. It is simple to put together and comes with a piece of mesh to keep things from growing into the sand. The wood has been treated to survive the elements and it can take a massive 500 pounds of sand.
It's a good size too, meaning it will last your child a long time as they grow up. You will need to make sure that you build it on a level service though as you have to screw it all together and you don't want gaps.
KidKraft Activity Sandbox with Canopy
Keep the sun of your little ones
Keeping your little ones shaded while they play is a good idea. We should all be wearing sunscreen when we are outside, but a canopy over the sandpit will help a lot. This sandpit has benches to sit on and two small tubs to put sand or water in as well to maximize your enjoyment.

Keep your sandpit free from mess
Keeping your sandpit free from debris, leaves, and animal mess is a constant struggle. We have a tarp that we cover ours with but taking it on and off is frustrating when your child is clamoring to play. This sandpit has seats that fold into the pit when you aren't using it creating a covered area that will stop any large animals from getting in and using it as a litter box!

Why you can trust Gardeningetc
Sandpits are a lot of fun for children of all ages and a good one will last for as many years as you need. We chose to purchase the Creative Cedar Designs sandpit in the end as it offered the best value for money, and size from the ones we tried. I love how big it is and easy it is for my daughter and me to make huge sandcastles!
